The bottom border of a window is used to scroll horizontally in much the same way that the left border is used to scroll vertically.
Try scrolling horizontally by clicking the left, and then the right, mouse button on the bottom border of the window. Watch the columns indicator on the banner line to see the effect of this scrolling. You can also thumb horizontally by pressing the middle mouse button at any point along the bottom border.
